Who is it

JOSEPH NICOLOSI, PH.D. 1947-2017 Dr. Nicolosi graduated from the New School for Social Research (MA) and obtained his doctorate. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. He holds a Licentiate in Psychology in California. He died suddenly in 2017. Doctor Nicolosi was a pioneer in the history of psychology. His profession was rapidly abandoning the classic understanding of sexuality as rooted in design and purpose - namely, "normalcy is what works according to its design," but refused to be carried on with the tide. Although several colleagues agreed with him privately, only a few were willing to say so publicly. There was always a hefty career cost to pay for disagreeing with the gay lobby. But Doctor Nicolosi was undeterred; it continued to promote the classic understanding of homosexuality as a loss of attachment rooted in trauma. He found support for this view in the rich world of psychodynamic literature and in attachment and individuation research. At the time of his death.
"In 1980 he founded the Thomas Aquinas Psychological Clinic in Encino, California, and served as Clinical Director. Although working with a wide range of clients, his specialty was treating men who wished to diminish their attractions of the same. sex and develop their heterosexual potential. Dr. Nicolosi was one of the three founding members - and former President - of the National Association for Homosexual Research and Therapy (NARTH), a professional association of 1,000 members founded in 1992 ( www.narth.com) NARTH's goal is to support mental health professionals working with same-sex-attracted clients seeking change. Promote respect within the mental health profession for diversity of worldview , regardless of whether a person seeks to identify as gay or work to develop their heterosexual potential. The NARTH website is viewed Updated by over 100,000 visitors every month.
